Cullompton and Honiton clusters also attended both the Wednesday and Friday meetings in which nearly 400 Year 4 pupils competed over 3 courses at this fantastically scenic location. Schools were encouraged to bring all Year 4’s to compete in either the A, B or C competition in teams of 3 or 4 depending on their experience and confidence. The main objective of the Orienteering event is to introduce the children to the skills of map reading and visual coordinates to locate each point. However, friendly competition allows the children to become more physically active in the process. Notable results for the Uffculme cluster included Uplowman School placed 2nd in the ‘B’ competition and 4th in the ‘C’ competition on the Wednesday. Uffculme Primary and Webbers were 2nd and 4th respectively in the ‘A’ competition on the Friday while Hemyock came 2nd in both the ‘B’ and ‘C’ competition.
